Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in VMware Workstation. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the guest system. A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

A local user on the guest system can set a specially crafted environment variable value to exploit a DLL loading flaw in the 'vmware-vmx' process and gain elevated privileges on the host system [CVE-2017-4898].

A local user on the guest system can exploit a flaw in the SVGA driver on hosts that have no graphics card or have no graphics drivers installed to trigger an out-of-bounds memory read error or cause the virtual machine to crash [CVE-2017-4899].

A local user on the guest system can trigger a null pointer dereference in the SVGA driver to cause their virtual machine to crash [CVE-2017-4900].

Ivil, Marco Grassi (@marcograss) of KeenLab (@keen_lab) Tencent, and Saar Amar(@AmarSaar) reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the guest system.

A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Workstation 12.5.3).
