Date:  Jun 14 2016
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 9, 10, 11
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can gain elevated privileges. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2016-0199, CVE-2016-0200, CVE-2016-3211].

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error in the JScript 9, JScript, and VBScript engines and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2016-3202, CVE-2016-3205, CVE-2016-3206, CVE-2016-3207, CVE-2016-3210].

A remote user on the local network can return specially crafted NetBIOS responses to trigger a flaw in the the Web Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD) protocol implementation and gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2016-3213].

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2016-3212]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the target site and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

62600BCA031B9EB5CB4A74ADDDD6771E (via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI)), Ashutosh Mehra (via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI)), Masato Kinugawa of Cure53, Moritz Jodeit of Blue Frost Security, SkyLined (via iDefense), Tao Yan (@Ga1ois) of Palo Alto Networks, and Yu Yang (@tombkeeper) of Tencent's Xuanwu Lab reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the target site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

A patch matrix is available in the vendor advisory.
