Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can gain elevated privileges. A remote user can bypass security controls on the target system. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-6042, CVE-2015-6045, CVE-2015-6048, CVE-2015-6049, CVE-2015-6050].

A remote user can create a specially crafted ActiveX control marked "safe for initialization" in an application or Microsoft Office document that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error in the VBScript and JScript engines and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-2482, CVE-2015-6055, CVE-2015-6056].

A remote user that can exploit a separate vulnerability can trigger a permission validation flaw to gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2015-6044, CVE-2015-6047, CVE-2015-6051].

A remote user can bypass the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) security feature via the VBScript and JScript engines [CVE-2015-6052, CVE-2015-6059].

A remote user can send a specially crafted request to view potentially sensitive information from memory on the target system [CVE-2015-6046, CVE-2015-6053].

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote user can bypass ASLR security controls on the target system.

A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

A patch matrix is available in the vendor advisory.

[Editor's note: On October 29, 2015, the vendor updated their bulletin to announce a new Windows 10 cumulative update (3105210) to address an additional vulnerability (CVE-2015-6045). Users of Windows 10 systems should install the new update.]
