Description:
Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information.
A remote user can create specially crafted HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target system [CVE-2012-1523, CVE-2012-1875, CVE-2012-1876, CVE-2012-1877, CVE-2012-1878, CVE-2012-1879, CVE-2012-1880, CVE-2012-1881. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.
A flaw in the Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar can cause code execution [CVE-2012-1874].
The toStaticHTML() method does not properly sanitize certain strings [CVE-2012-1858]. A remote user can exploit this to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Certain EUC-JP encoded character strings are not properly processed [CVE-2012-1872]. A remote user can exploit this to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
A remote user can create specially crafted HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will read portions of process memory [CVE-2012-1873].
The browser does not block scrolling events cross-domain [CVE-2012-1882]. A remote user can access information from a different domain.
An anonymous researcher (via VeriSign iDefense Labs), Adi Cohen of IBM Security Systems - Application Security, Masato Kinugawa, Roman Shafigullin of LinkedIn, Code Audit Labs of VulnHunt, Dark Son of VulnHunt, Qihoo 360 Security Center, Yichong Lin of McAfee Labs, Google Inc., VUPEN Security (via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative), and an anonymous researcher (via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative) reported these vulnerabilities.
