|
Description:
Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Mozilla Firefox. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user may be able to infer keystroke entries on another page. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
A remote user can create specially crafted HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target system [CVE-2011-2995, CVE-2011-2996, CVE-2011-2997]. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.
A remote user can trigger an integer underflow via a large JavaScript RegExp expression [CVE-2011-2998]. Only version 3.6.x is affected.
A remote user can create a frame named 'location' and shadow the window.location object to conduct cross-site scripting attacks via plugins [CVE-2011-2999].
A remote user can return multiple Location headers to cause Firefox to process the wrong location header [CVE-2011-3000].
A remote user can cause the target user to download and execute arbitrary code [CVE-2011-2372] or install an arbitrary extension [CVE-2011-3001] while holding down the Enter key. Version 3.6.x is not affected by the extension installation flaw.
A remote user can exploit flaws in WebGL to potentially execute arbitrary code [CVE-2011-3002, CVE-2011-3003]. Version 3.6.x is not affected.
A remote user can exploit a flaw in the YARR regular expression library to execute arbitrary code [CVE-2011-3232]. Version 3.6.x is not affected.
The JSSubScriptLoader() unwraps XPCNativeWrappers, which may allow a remote user to gain elevated privileges [CVE-2011-3004]. Version 3.6.x is not affected. [Editor's note: It was originally reported that version 3.6.x was not affected, but later discovered that version 3.6.x is affected. A patch was issued on November 8, 2011; See CVE-2011-3647; See Alert ID 1026298.]
A specially crafted '.ogg' file can trigger a use-after-free memory error and execute arbitrary code [CVE-2011-3005]. Version 3.6.x is not affected.
A remote web page may be able to infer keystroke entries on another active web page from motion data events. Version 3.6.x is not affected.
Benjamin Smedberg, Bob Clary, Jesse Ruderman, Josh Aas, Andrew McCreight, Andreas Gal, Gary Kwong, Igor Bukanov, Jason Orendorff, Marcia Knous, Ian Graham of Citrix Online, Mariusz Mlynski, Michael Jordon of Context IS, Ben Hawkes of the Google Security Team, Aki Helin, David Rees, sczimmer, Mark Kaplan, Boris Zbarsky, and University of California, Davis researchers Liang Cai and Hao Chen reported these vulnerabilities.
|
Impact:
A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.
A remote user may be able to infer keystroke entries on another page.
A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

3. Description:
Mozilla Firefox is an open source web browser. XULRunner provides the XUL
Runtime environment for Mozilla Firefox.
Several flaws were found in the processing of malformed web content. A web
page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash or,
potentially, execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running
Firefox. (CVE-2011-2995)
A flaw was found in the way Firefox processed the "Enter" keypress event. A
malicious web page could present a download dialog while the key is
pressed, activating the default "Open" action. A remote attacker could
exploit this vulnerability by causing the browser to open malicious web
content. (CVE-2011-2372)
A flaw was found in the way Firefox handled Location headers in redirect
responses. Two copies of this header with different values could be a
symptom of a CRLF injection attack against a vulnerable server. Firefox now
treats two copies of the Location, Content-Length, or Content-Disposition
header as an error condition. (CVE-2011-3000)
A flaw was found in the way Firefox handled frame objects with certain
names. An attacker could use this flaw to cause a plug-in to grant its
content access to another site or the local file system, violating the
same-origin policy. (CVE-2011-2999)
An integer underflow flaw was found in the way Firefox handled large
JavaScript regular expressions. A web page containing malicious JavaScript
could cause Firefox to access already freed memory, causing Firefox to
crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the
user running Firefox. (CVE-2011-2998)
For technical details regarding these flaws, refer to the Mozilla security
advisories for Firefox 3.6.23. You can find a link to the Mozilla
advisories in the References section of this erratum.
All Firefox users should upgrade to these updated packages, which contain
Firefox version 3.6.23, which corrects these issues. After installing the
update, Firefox must be restarted for the changes to take effect.
4. Solution:
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-11259
5. Bugs fixed (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/):
