Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Symantec VERITAS Storage Foundation. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can send specially crafted data to trigger a buffer overflow in the Veritas Enterprise Administrator service (vxsvc) and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target service.

The following Storage Foundation products are affected:

Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows
Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows High Availability (SFWHA)
Veritas Storage Foundation (SF)
Veritas Storage Foundation for High Availability (SFHA)
Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle (SFO)
Veritas Storage Foundation for DB2
Veritas Storage Foundation for Sybase
Veritas Storage Foundation for Real Application Cluster (SFRAC)
Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster File System (SFCFS)
Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster File System Enterprise for Oracle RAC (SFCFSORAC)

Veritas Dymanic Multi-Pathing (DMP) for Windows is also affected.

Luigi Auriemma reported this vulnerability via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
