Description:
A vulnerability was reported in OpenLDAP. A remote user may be able to bypass authentication for external applications.
When the system is configured with a chain overlay on the frontend and with ppolicy with ppolicy_forward_updates, the system will accept bind operations with invalid credentials. If an OpenLDAP slave receives an authenticated bind request with an invalid password that was forwarded to the master LDAP server, the LDAP slave will return a successful bind (as an anonymous user).
A remote user may be able login to external applications (e.g., pam_ldap, SSSD) using an invalid password.
