Description:
A vulnerability was reported in Mozilla Thunderbird. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A remote user can create specially crafted scripting code that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.
Specially crafted document.write() and appendChild() calls can create duplicate text frames and overwrite buffers.
The vulnerability is not triggered by reading mail. However, the vulnerability can be triggered via RSS feeds if JavaScript is enabled or via third party add-ons that enable browser-like functionality.
This vulnerability is being actively exploited on Windows-based systems.

security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score,
which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in
the References section.

3. Description:
Mozilla Thunderbird is a standalone mail and newsgroup client.
A race condition flaw was found in the way Thunderbird handled Document
Object Model (DOM) element properties. An HTML mail message containing
malicious content could cause Thunderbird to crash or, potentially, execute
arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Thunderbird.
(CVE-2010-3765)
Note: JavaScript support is disabled by default in Thunderbird. The
CVE-2010-3765 issue is not exploitable unless JavaScript is enabled.
All Thunderbird users should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves this issue. All running instances of Thunderbird must be restarted
for the update to take effect.
4. Solution:
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-11259
5. Bugs fixed (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/):
