Description:   A vulnerability was reported in BusyBox. A local user may be able to spoof certain messages.

SuSE reported in an advisory (SuSE-SA:2004:012; pertaining to a different vulnerability in a different product) that BusyBox does not properly handle netlink sockets. A local user can reportedly spoof netlink messages to the BusyBox process.

Impact:   A local user can reportedly spoof netlink messages to the BusyBox process.
Solution:   No upstream solution was available at the time of this entry.

[Editor's note: SuSE reported that a fixed version for SuSE Linux is available from the SuSE FTP servers. However, SuSE has not yet issued an advisory for this flaw.]
