Description:  A vulnerability was reported in Mac OS X Finder. A user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote or local user can create a specially crafted file that, when placed on the target user's desktop, will cause Finder to terminate when generating the file's icon. Finder will restart and then terminate again in a continual cycle. This prevents access to the target user's account.

Systems prior to 10.5 are not affected.

Sergio 'shadown' Alvarez of n.runs AG reported this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote or local user can create a file that, when placed on the target user's desktop, will cause Finder to enter a cycle of terminating and restarting.
Solution:  The vendor has issued a fix as part of Security Update 2008-007, available from the Software Update pane in System Preferences, or Apple's Software Downloads web site at:
