Description: Two vulnerabilities were reported in Mac OS X ImageIO. A local user can view portions of system memory. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A user can create a specially crafted BMP or GIF file that, when loaded, will trigger an out-of-bounds memory read in the BMP and
GIF image decoding engine and disclose potentially sensitive memory contents to the user [CVE-2008-1573]. Gynvael Coldwind of Hispasec
reported this vulnerability.
A remote user can create a specially crafted JPEG2000 image file that, when loaded by the target
user, will trigger an integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2008-1574]. The code will run
with the privileges of the target user.
