Description: Several vulnerabilities were reported in the Axis 207W Network Camera. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote user can conduct cross-site request forgery attacks to gain root access on the target device.
The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can create a
specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's
browser. The code will originate from the site running the Axis Network Camera software and will run in the security context of
that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated
with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as
the target user.
A demonstration exploit URL is provided:

A remote user can conduct a cross-site request forgery attack against a target user logged in with administrative privileges
to gain root access on the target camera.
A remote authenticated user can cause denial of service conditions using the following
type of URL:
http://[target]/axis-cgi/buffer/command.cgi?do=start&buffername=<unique buffer name>
The system sends the username
and password via the network in plaintext form.
The vendor has been notified.

In summary, the AXIS 207W is vulnerable to numerous attacks. Some of
these are related to wireless protocol vulnerabilities, but the majority
are exploitable via the web application interface included with the
camera. The most significant issue is that a CSRF attack against a user
logged in as an administrator can lead to root access of the Linux based
operating system on the camera. As a result, the camera can be turned
into an internal resource for any malicous hacker, through which custom
scripts can be launched. This can include port scans, banner grabbing,
buffer overflow exploits, application attacks, and more. Note that this
attack vector will bypass most firewalls.
