Description:  A vulnerability was reported in GNU C++ Compiler (GCC). A remote user can cause files to be overwriten on the target system.

The extract_jar() function in 'jartool.c' does not properly validate user-supplied input. A remote user can create a jar archive with specially crafted filenames that contain '../' directory traversal characters that, when unpacked by the target user via gcc, will overwrite files with the privileges of the target user.

This vulnerability was reported in July 2006.

Impact:  A user can cause files to be overwritten on the target system.
Solution:  A fix is available via CVS (Revision 115946).
