Description:  A vulnerability was reported in Qt. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create specially crafted text that, when parsed by the target user with Qt, will trigger a format string error and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

Qt 4 is not affected.

The vendor credits Tim Brown of Portcullis Computer Security Ltd and Dirk Mueller of KDE with reporting this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote user can create a text string that, when parsed by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.
Solution:  The vendor has issued a patch for version 3.3.8, available at:
