Description:  A vulnerability was reported in Asterisk. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

When configured to allow unauthenticated calls, a remote user can send a flood of NEW packets to initiate calls and cause the system to allocate resources and never deallocate them. This can cause a system to become unusable within a few seconds.

A restart is required to return to normal operations.

If the guest account or any other account that does not have a password is enabled, the system may be affected.

Russell Bryant reported this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote user can cause the system to become unusable.
Solution:  The vendor has issued fixed versions for the various editions of Asterisk.
