Description: A vulnerability was reported in Symantec Automated Support Assistant. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A remote user can create specially crafted HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a stack overflow in the SmartIssue
'tgctlsi.dll' and ScriptRunner 'tgctlsr.dll' ActiveX controls and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run
with the privileges of the target user.
The ActiveX controls were developed by SupportSoft and included as part of the Symantec
Automated Support Assistant support tool.
Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2006, Symantec Norton Internet Security 2006, and Symantec
Norton System Works 2006 are also affected.
Symantec 2007 consumer products are not affected. Symantec corporate and enterprise
products are not affected.
This vulnerability was independently discovered by Mark Litchfield of NGS Software, US-CERT, and Peter
Vreugdenhil working with iDefense.

Impact: A remote user can create HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

Solution: The vendor has issued a fix, available via LiveUpdate.
