Description:  A vulnerability was reported in MySQL. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote user can send a specially crafted authentication request to cause the target MySQL server to crash.

Dormando reported this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote user can cause the target server to crash.
Solution:  The vendor has issued a fixed version (4.1.24, 5.0.45).
