Description:  A vulnerability was reported in Mac OS X. A local user can obtain system privileges on the target system.

A local user can supply specially crafted input to the shared_region_make_private_np() system call to trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary commands with system privileges. A local user can also cause denial of service conditions.

LMH discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:  A local user can obtain system privileges on the target system.
Solution:  Apple has issued a fix (Mac OS X v10.4.9 and Security Update 2007-003), available from the Software Update pane in System Preferences, or Apple's Software Downloads web site at:
