Description:  A vulnerability was reported in nss_ldap. A remote user can gain access to systems using LDAP authentication.

The pam_ldap module does not properly process PasswordPolicyReponse control response messages. As a result, the pam_authenticate function may return a success code when authentication has failed. A remote user may be able to access the target system.

Steve Rigler discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote user can gain access to systems using LDAP authentication.
Solution:  No upstream solution was available at the time of this entry.
Cause:  Authentication error
Underlying OS:  Linux (Any), UNIX (AIX), UNIX (FreeBSD), UNIX (HP/UX), UNIX (Solaris - SunOS)
