|
Impact: Execution of arbitrary code via network, User access via network

Fix Available: Yes
Vendor Confirmed: Yes

Advisory: Apple Security Advisory

Version(s): 10.3.9, 10.4.6
|
Description: A vulnerability was reported in Apple Mac OS X. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
A remote user can create an archive, such as a Zip archive, that contains a file with a long path name that, when expanded by the
target user, will trigger a heap overflow in the BOM component and execute arbitrary code.
An archive with specially crafted
directory traversal symbolic links may allow a remote user to create or overwrite arbitrary files when the target user expands the
archive.
A remote user can send specially crafted chunked transfer encoding data to trigger an integer overflow in the CFNetwork
component and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target service. Systems
prior to Mac OS X v10.4 are not affected by the CFNetwork vulnerability.
A remote user can create HTML that references a specially
crafted Internet Location item (e.g., URL) that appears to the target user to be benign but, when loaded by the target user, will
load a different URL scheme. This may allow arbitrary code to be executed.
|
Impact: A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
