Description: Several vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A remote user can create a specially crafted web page that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a buffer overflow, memory
exception, access control, or other flaw and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges
of the target user.
A remote user can cause an object to register an exception handler that may not properly handle certain conditions.
As a result, a memory corruption error may occur and arbitrary code may be executed.
A remote user can send specially UTF-8
encoded HTML to cause arbitrary code to be executed.
A remote user can pass specially crafted data to the DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Light
ActiveX control to execute arbitrary code.
A remote user can cause Internet Explorer to instantiate a COM objects that shoud
not be instantiated in Internet Explorer.
A remote user can create a specially crafted cascading style sheet (CSS) that, when
loaded by the target user, will cause potentially sensitive information on the target user's system to be disclosed.
A remote
user can cause spoofed content to be displayed in a browser window. The address bar and other parts of the trust user interface
can be displayed in the context of a trusted site while the spoofed content remains under the control of the remote user.
A remote
user can create a specially crafted web page that, when loaded by the target user, will cause multipart HTML (.mht) files to be
saved, appliwng remote code to be executed.
Microsoft credits the following with reporting these vulnerabilties:
Andreas Sandblad
of Secunia, TippingPoint, Will Dormann of CERT/CC, H D Moore of the Metasploit Project, Yorick Koster of ITsec Security Services,
hoshikuzu star_dust, and John Jones of DISC, State of Kansas.
