Description: Several vulnerabilities were reported in Novell NetMail. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The NetMail application contains several flaws. A remote user or remote authenticated user can send specially crafted data to trigger
a buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target service.
A
remote authenticated user can send a specially crafted STOR command to the NetMail Network Messaging Application Protocol (NMAP)
daemon (nmapd.exe) on TCP port 689 to trigger a buffer overflow. The vendor was notified of this vulnerability on September 8,
2006.
A remote user can send IMAP commands appended with specially crafted literals to the IMAP service (imapd.exe) to trigger
a heap overflow. The vendor was notified of this vulnerability on August 14, 2006.
A remote authenticated user can send a specially
crafted APPEND command to the IMAP service to trigger a stack overflow. The vendor was notified of this vulnerability on August
14, 2006.
A remote authenticated user can send a specially crafted Subscribe command to the IMAP service to trigger a stack overflow.
The vendor was notified of this vulnerability on October 10, 2006.
Dennis Rand of CIRT.DK discovered the NMAP STOR vulnerability
and the IMAP Subscribe command vulnerability.
TippingPoint and iDefense reported these vulnerabilities.
