Description:  A vulnerability was reported in Servant Salamander. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target system.

A remote user can create an ACE archive with a specially crafted filename that, when extracted by the target user, will trigger a buffer overflow in 'unacev2.dll' and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

The vendor was notified on April 27, 2006.

Tan Chew Keong of Secunia Research discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:  A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
Solution:  The vendor has issued a fixed version (2.5 RC 1).

3) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in Servant Salamander,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's
system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in UNACEV2.DLL
when extracting an ACE archive containing a file with an overly long
filename. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer
overflow when a user extracts a specially crafted ACE archive.
