CVE Reference: GENERIC-MAP-NOMATCH
(Links to External Site)
|
Date: Nov 24 2005
|
Impact: Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
|
Exploit Included: Yes
|
Version(s): 4.2 and prior versions
|
Description: Several vulnerabilities were reported in vtiger. A remote user can execute arbitrary code. A remote user can also bypass authentication, inject SQL commands, and conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Several scripts do not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can create
a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's
browser. The code will originate from the site running the vtiger software and will run in the security context of that site.
As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with
the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the
target user.
The $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] variable is affected. A demonstration exploit is provided:
/index.php/%22%3E%3Cscript%3Ealert('xss')%3C/script%3E/?[params]
The RSS aggregation module is affected, as input from aggregated feeds is not properly filtered.
If the 'magic_quotes_gpc'
is diabled, a remote user can submit a specially crafted login form to inject SQL commands and bypass authentication to gain administrative
access on the application.
The 'action' and 'module' parameters are not properly validated. A remote user can supply a specially
crafted parameter value terminated with a null character (%00) to include and execute arbitrary local files.
A remote user can
inject arbitrary PHP code in a field, which vtiger will then write to the log file ('vtigercrm.log') that is, by default, in a directory
accessible via the web server. A remote user can cause the log file to be included and the arbitrary PHP code to be executed.
The
vendor was notified on September 16, 2005.
Christopher Kunz of the Hardened PHP Project reported this vulnerability.
