Description: A vulnerability was reported in Asterisk in the manager interface. A remote authenticated user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
A remote authenticated user can supply a specially crafted command string to trigger a stack overflow and execute arbitrary code.
The code will (typically) run with root privileges.
A command string composed two double quote characters followed by a tab
character, with this sequence repeating, can trigger the flaw.
The manager interface is not enabled by default.
The vendor
was notified on May 19, 2005.

Solution: The vendor has issued a fixed version (1.0.8), available at:

As a workaround, the manager interface can be disabled via the 'manager.conf' file.
