CartWiz Input Validation Hole in 'viewCart.asp' Permits Cross-Site Scripting Attacks
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1014581
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id?1014581
CVE Reference:  CVE-2005-2427   (Links to External Site)
Updated:  Jul 6 2008
Original Entry Date:  Jul 26 2005
Impact:  Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Exploit Included:  Yes
Description:  Zinho from Hackers Center Security Group reported an input validation vulnerability in CartWiz. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote user can also create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the CartWIZ software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A demonstration exploit request is provided:

store/viewCart.asp?message=%3Cplaintext%3E

Impact:  A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the CartWIZ software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
Solution:  No solution was available at the time of this entry.

Hackers Center Security Group (http://www.hackerscenter.com/)
Zinho's Security Advisory

Desc: XSS in CartWIZ
Risk: Medium (Cookie stealing)

store/viewCart.asp?message=%3Cplaintext%3E

allows anyone to retrieve cookie and take control over the account.
I noticed there are also some unchecked input when a user log in into his account and change his own
personal data. This could lead to a permanent xss hole much more dangerous than the previous. ====> Webmaster of .:[ Hackers Center : Internet Security Portal]:. http://www.hackerscenter.com http://www.securityforge.com/web-hosting
