Description:  A vulnerability was reported in PowerLock NetworkSecurity. A remote authenticated user can bypass certain FTP access controls to access restricted AS/400 objects.

The software does not properly parse user-supplied requests in making access control decisions. As a result, a remote authenticated user can supply a specially crafted request to bypass PowerLock NetworkSecurity FTP access restrictions and access potentially restricted files on the target AS/400 system.

Some demonstration exploit requests are provided:

Get /home/bp/outgoing/../../../qsys.lib/aplibf.lib/apcaccp.file/apcaccp.mbr

Get /home/bp/outgoing/./././../../bp/../../qsys.lib/aplibf.lib/apcaccp.file/apcaccp.mbr

The vendor was notified on March 15, 2005.

Impact:  A remote authenticated user can bypass access restrictions and access potentially restricted files on the target AS/400 system.
Solution:  The vendor has issued a fix.
